Stole my parents’ Lambert and Butler when I was 11/12 (they were Lambert and Crustler to me and my friends). I never really understood why my folks smoked them, but they started on them in the 60s when American brands were much more difficult to come by, and a lot more expensive.
Once I started paying for my own fags, I was on to Marlboro Red, and smoked them for about 15 years, when I decided switching to Marlboro Lights was a ‘healthy’ option. I did enjoy a Dunhill back in the day as well. Camel and Luckies were an acceptable alternative if I couldn’t get any Marlboro. When I got to University, I had a brief dalliance with Gauloises Blondes, because I thought they made me look mysterious and sophisticated.
I was at a minor public school, and thus B+H were not allowed.
