…LOL! if only you knew how shit my Summer has been so far, basically have inadvertently become full-time carer for my ma who has advanced Parkinson’s and fell and broke her hip a couple of weeks ago, literally all I’ve been able to do is music. If I hadn’t become weirdly obsessive about production in the last year or so, think I might have actually gone nuts.

I’ve cancelled 2 trips so far, hoping I can still make it to Wilderness end of next week, first festival in a few years and need to cut loose so fucking badly…

Not looking for sympathy btw, just sharing the reason for recent weirdly prolific behaviour… 😉

Unbroken1 Oh, Brother I feel for you! I’ve looked after my Nan over the years before her passing, and that was full on at times. I can see why you channel everything into the music.

Unbroken1 sorry to hear about you mum mate. Music will be a good outlet for your stress

Sorry to hear about your Mum Damo, you’re a bloody good son by the sounds of it.

I had to look after my father in law this week for a day. He has Parkinson’s and is a stubborn sod at the best of times. I ended up mowing the lawn and cutting hedges etc and telling him to stay sat down in the shade of a tree. Course he ignores all that, gets up and then proceeds to fall over. He’s a good 16 stone so getting him up on his feet again was interesting. How you can do that pretty much full time is beyond me, Damo. Nice one mate.

…thanks for the kind words all, really appreciate it. Wish I hadn’t shared this in here now, completely derailed my own mix thread 😆

Smallman1 …I’m a much better son than husband, according to my wife!
Millsy …wonder if the stubbornness comes with the condition? its no joke really tho, getting old is shit.

We cared for my partner’s mum and dad before each passed. I wish you the best.

And there’s nothing wrong with being obsessed with production (is there?) 🙂

Unbroken1 wonder if the stubbornness comes with the condition?

Not the condition per se. Telling any elderly person that they can’t do certain things anymore will usually illicit a negative response. Imagine telling Ed that he can’t take his top off or listen to Musak and disc 2 anymore!

However memory loss and imbalance are conditions of Parkinsons in some cases.

@Unbroken1 Sorry to hear about your mother. It’s hard for all involved. Glad you have an outlet during this difficult time.

          Unbroken1
My mother slipped down the stairs but was lucky that she only fractured her pelvis. This happened in late January. I had to fly home early from my trip as my father couldn’t cope looking after her. Thankfully she’s ok now. But it’s been an absolute nightmare the last year as she has single cell lung cancer & COPD. She had a course of radiotherapy about 6 weeks ago and tomorrow a CT scan to see how things are going I’ve had move back home to look after them. Mainly to do all the cooking as neither of them can cook.

Dubman …uff mate, that sounds rough. Fairplay to you for doing the decent thing! Sending you all the best…

Dubman Just got do it as there’s only me left.

That’s a hell of a sentence. Hope you’re doing well, it’s a lot to take on.
