bosstrabs you got me. Wounded.
Anyone got a drone I can borrow?
I’ve moved on and so have they. They’re still around - albeit much smaller and making IOT software. Regardless, during their prime they were a catalyst company for so many other tech companies in my area. It’s a reason Google has a huge office in Kitchener of all places.
I was never a fan either. Gordon Downie was a great songwriter and had an interesting voice, but the backing music was bland.
Nickleback are far, far, faaaar worse however!

Do whatcha wanna do. Say what you wanna say, Comer.
Well in, though.
True story, my mate is one of Canada’s only Ableton Certified trainers and goes on tour with her and a bunch of other big name artists like Drake, Frank Ocean, Childish Gambino, etc. doing all of the Ableton backing tracks work for them. He started out in the rave scene and still does gigs within electronic music when not out on tour.
It’s a massive fucking place. Some parts are shit like Alberta, dead horse Ontario border towns, Quebecers when they slight you for speaking English, etc. Other parts are amazing - like Alberta’s portion of the Rocky Mountains. The Cabot Trail out east is stunningly beautiful, British Columbia is gorgeous from top to bottom (except the East End in Vancouver). Quebec City is the oldest city in North America and makes you feel like you’re standing in the middle of Europe. Montreal is the food capital of the country and has one of the best nightclubs in the world with Stereo. Toronto is a melting pot of all cultures from all around the world.
It’s a pretty decent place to live - albeit much more expensive in the major population centres than you’d think your £ would go.

Until the men’s team’s more recent success, they were the media darlings and consistently out-drew the men’s attendances and sold out stadiums. I believe it’s the CWNT who still hold the attendance record for ‘soccer’ in Canada, so I beg to differ. I dare say more people are likely to know who Christine Sinclair is over Alphonso Davies or Jonathan David - and rightly so.
I watch and cheer them on, but it’s definitely a slower and more frustrating watch.
Based on the media coverage the CWNT are getting here and worldwide, the press and headlines would have you believe it’s the only sport we’re competing in at the Olympics
loopdokter Yeah like I said, no one actually cares. Especially about Celine Dion, but especially women’s football.
I’ve never had a single person mention the women’s team to me in real life. I’ve heard clubs like Everton and Newcastle talked about at length, for perspective. And the only people who like Celine Dion are over 75.
ScottBailey I’d take a cup of their dark roast (no milk or cream) over any of the swamp water the likes of Nero, Costa and Starbucks serve over here (I accept that’s a low bar to start with)!
A very low bar.
Used to grinding fresh to how my own preference, unless you find an independent coffee shop it’s hard to get close.
Your first sentence is essentially bang on
Wait, Bryan Adam’s isn’t British?
And I thought Tim Westwood was black when I was a kid!
somebody is having my fucking life.
He’s not, but he IS a sexual predator.
loopdokter Kitchener of all places.
Kitchener sink?
The Court For the Arbitration of Sport knocked back our appeal, so that means we’re still down 6 points. We’re playing Colombia right now and if we don’t win, we’re done. If we win, we’re through.
So far it’s 0-0 at the beginning of the second half…
Keep us posted, Loops.
….Canadia Winnipegged them back!
I’m just gonna say that loopy seems to have mentioned every single musical artist that Canada has ever produced in this thread, except for the four best ones: Crystal Castles, Grimes, Arcade Fire and Skinny Puppy.
Sums him up really.
loopdokter Some parts are shit like Alberta… Other parts are amazing - like Alberta
They seem to enjoy being called rednecks around that way too

I fired off a few. Arcade Fire, Broken Social Scene, Delirium, Stars, Feist, Lights, Oscar Peterson… The list is long and many.
I’d rather bore you all with Canadian women’s football.
We’re through to the quarter-finals. As we should be. Much ado about nothing.
There’s a pun about Canada beating Colombia and British Columbia in here somewhere. I’m just not there… yet.
