  • It's the forthcoming films and TV thread...innit.

Most people who stream stuff do it with the TV sound, or with a lap top so obviously physical media is redundant for that. It’s just sickos like me who still like it. And have space for it, in our case a dedicated home theatre room.

Mubi is putting The Substance on their streaming service for October 31st (I think I read somewhere it’s for Halloween only) if you want to watch a movie that goes well with plenty of snacks.

Apparently a remake of Cliffhanger is on its way, with Lily James. I mean, fuck off.

Another remake of a classic on its way. From the director of the excellent Fried Barry

mjh it is!…couldn’t believe it when it popped up in my local Ritzy videos after reading about it in Fangoria.

Nosferatu reviews are out, and a few odd ones out they’re all raving about it. Did not think about it before, but this is probably the only period accurate Dracula-film (even if it’s not REALLY a Dracula-film) set in the 1800s because of course Eggers will make sure it’s period accurate. They’re also saying it’s a true horror-film too.

I can’t wait. January 3rd in Finland because the cowards didn’t release it for Christmas like most of the world will do.

An actual Iraq war vet Joe Mendoza co-wrote and directed this with Alex Garland. Looks awesome, I love Black Hawk Down and Hurt Locker.

The Hurt Locker is a great film.

Millsy with this kind of movie that’s still the Dolby Atmos-track on Saving Private Ryan. Civil War is this year’s best sound, though I loved it otherwise too when I saw it in the cinema, I didn’t buy it on disc just for the sound. 😀

But boy that film in an iSense-screening room was one of the best movie theatre-experiences I’ve ever had.

They’re always an option. But as a retiree I’ll say no. Popcorn and ice cream will see you fine.

I really enjoyed it, as much as you can. I struggle with the fact that a cold-blooded killer is portrayed as a hero. It was fine when he was killing the targets, when he shot the rich bloke (UDC) from the boat you kinda wanted him to succeed but then he killed all of the innocents like the old couple in their mobile home on holiday and I thought “what a cunt”

Dry-Tinder Eddie Redmayne surprised me by how believable he was a cold eyed assassin. Great performance. Lashana Lynch was unconvincing as his nemesis. As if

Yeah, the only flaw in it for me was why Bianca Pullman never got a picture of the Jackel from his military past.

That SAS Rogue Heroes series starts in January, the last one was brilliant, so I’m looking forward to that

…enjoyed DOTJ, thought the cast was pretty solid and the whole thing was quite filmic and slick (not sure how the title sequence/theme song got by the Broccoli’s lawyers tho).

Although it makes me sound like an old fart, must admit I quite liked the appointment-to-view aspect of spacing out the episodes, normally frustrates the shit out of me, but def made it feel more of an event IMO

Dry-Tinder …whenever these sci-fi things boil down to factions fighting, it just immediately feels to me like they’ve run out of ideas/budget, Raised by Wolves went exactly the same way.

Yeah I think that it is better when you get an episode a week. I’m quite enjoying Landman and The Agency on paramount+

There is no place on TV for an actress with an arse the size of that bird on Day of the Jackel unless it’s essential to the plot. Which it wasn’t. It was disgusting.

Yeah, noticed that. She was like one of those FB catfish girls who had a pretty face and had half a ton under her. I still can not understand why anyone carrying a firearm would be wearing high-heeled shoes either. If I was going to apprehend someone with a firearm I would want trainers on.

One of the best trailers I’ve EVER seen.

28 Days Later is also now available to buy and rent on Apple TV and Prime Video after the rights being in a limbo for long time. It was mostly shot using 576p digital cameras and it looks like that, but I am very fond of it. I also remember the posts about it on GU when they were shooting it in London.
