  • New Live In Stereo Montreal from Digweed.

SM001 nope. On reflection part of me wonders if he knew he was going to release it as the last in the series before the gig, and nerves got the better of him? He’s better than that for a few reason!

SM001 you expect a few classics/big moments in a 6 hour set

Well I’ve just got round to listening to it as I was a bit put off by some of the comments here.

Maybe the negative gang reduced my expectations because I’m actually quite liking it. Granted I’m only on disc 1 so maybe it’ll slide down hill soon enough.

But disc 1 does have some decent lower tempo moments. Hell, some of these tunes have a bit of a melody in there too.

So it’s too early for me to judge, but I know that I REALLY REALLY hated Slovenia by the same time now. God that was a trial and boy did I give it a chance to grow.

I really like the first Montreal one, so I’m sort of blindly hoping this may be a good sequel, rather than being Digweed’s answer to the awful Last Jedi!

But another MMII or Renaissance 2, would be preferred to any of this Live In nonsense! Can’t someone give him a nudge?!

Pete 🙂

    Didn’t mind discs 3, 4 and 5.

    Cheers!

Totally agree here, Peter. Its defo not as bas as its made out to be. That Legov remix of Anja Schneider is a great little groover.

There’s defo a case to be made that a lot of people on here are overcooked with the amount of mixes and music they listen to weekly which means a mix has to be out of this world to stand out. I don’t listen to any of John’s apple mixes or his radio show anymore so this sounded great to me. I honestly have no idea what people are looking for anymore.

Peak time wrecking ball POWER prog for me Liqui.

LT42 great point. This mix has grown on me a lot since first listen. There is the odd ropey track in there but also some great sections.

I’ve enjoyed the live Fabric mixes on the past few episodes of Transitions more than this one.
So IMHO he should have released that instead.

      Thanks.

I was convinced I had slung my copy of the 2016 Montreal mix, but I have just found it in a box next to South Beach. Both now off to the charity shop.

Does anyone still listen to any of these Live In mixes?

Amps I bought the Montreal CD, don’t think I ever got round to listening to it all the way through. It prob went in the bin when I last moved

Amps I think I’ve listened to them all once maybe? Never been hugely impressed with any of them.

Yeah, me too. I’ve bought a few over the years, listened to them a few times, then they just gathered dust. That music may have worked well in the club, but not for home listening.

I’ve listened to the first Montreal-mix through several times, all 10+ hours of it.

I’ve done the same with many John Talabot 7+ sets. A good build is fantastic for me. At least Digweed gets going three hours in.

Homegrove same here, it’s a fantastic set and the best of the Live In series. The first London mix prob 2nd best IMO

gcw yeah, feel the same way. The Fabric-one is probably my third favorite, and if I am not mistaken the only one besides Slovenia that’s the whole gig.

I was at the night in Fire and it was briliant albeit we were packed into the room like sardines. Listening back on the CD just doesn’t capture it. I’m sure its the same for all the releases. Amarali was great that night too.
