Just read the below post on Ricardo. Think I’ve only seen him once and that was not memorable, but anything I’ve listened to online I just think is very average. He also gets alot of negative views. But he must have something great about him? You don’t get the gigs he does and the sets he has at Fabric for being shit, and it’s not like he is a social media type dj just being successful for likes.
Who rates him? And why? Only thing I can think of is that he loves to get battered whilst DJing so does that make the crowd feel more connected to him and he is really part of the party
“From the very first gig way back in November 2002, Craig and I sussed he was one of us. Totally up for just playing records, doing long sets, and right up for a carry-on!
Within two visits to fabric we asked him to become a resident.
We didnt expect this creative genius to have such an impact on the club and the way it evolved. We couldn’t have done those legendary long club sessions, just closing the club whenever we wanted, without him. Ricardo is a unique and special human - when I hear a Ricardo set I know he is laying himself bare, digging deep into his soul and giving you everything. it’s like a journey through his head, an emotional rollercoaster, and a joyous ride that I want to stay on forever.
Ricardo has always stayed true, always real, authentic and original in his selection. His sets are always evolving, nodding to the past and giving us the future as he sees it - and always delivered with pure love and passion. He is an inspiration and an anarchist, an enigma and a spiritual thing and there will never be anyone like him. We are blessed to have him as part of our family and grateful for all the musical stories he has shared with us (and blown our minds with) for the last 22 years. Long may he reign.” - Judy Griffith
