I’ve got a friend who is in prison in the US. He is allowed an MP3 player and has asked me to send him some albums so I’m currently compiling a 128 GB USB stick (He’s doing 40 years) and have run out of ideas. He is from the UK and we used to listen to stuff like Floyd, Bowie etc when we were kids, then moved onto electronic stuff. I’ve done the usual stuff, Radiohead, Portishead, Prince, Joy Division etc What albums should I put on the stick?
Please - nothing to do with bum fun or similar, you’re better than that.

    Air - Moon Safari
The Smiths - The Queen Is Dead
    Saint Etienne - Foxbase Alpha

A 40 year stretch is no joke, damn…..if I was put away that long I would want to listen to stuff that could take me away from my current predicament mentally, so as a starter for ten…

      Massive Attack - Blue Lines
      Tricky - Maxinquaye
      Royksopp - Melody AM

I’d want tunes I can relax to and get lost in, hence the electronica leaning suggestions!

Best of the Happy Mondays cherry picks all the albums (some can be a bit of an acquired taste!!)

Having these in the same list is wild!

bosstrabs Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream

Over Gish? Is it because it’s double vinyl and he’s facing a long haul?

Amps Not necessarily over Gish. Their first four albums (including Pisces Iscariot) are ridic.

bosstrabs I gave Mellon Collie a couple of listens and ditched it, I could see them disappearing up Billie’s hoop. Gish and Siamese are power though. Saw them on the Siamese tour at the Royal Court, someone got on stage, punched Darcy in the mush whilst their mates nicked a load of guitars.

Amps Muzzle and Thru The Eyes of Ruby are two of their greatest tracks. Worth ploughing through some duds for on Mellon Collie.

                  Talk about nailing it. Crackers.
