Mad_Cyril My old Media Studies teacher told me a tale of being in the away end down south somewhere in the mid eighties with Liverpool… all game they had pound coins lobbed at them with the usual Smallman / Alistair / Flares / Dermo unemployment shtick to go with it. The instruction was given ‘not to flinch and not to pick any of it up’ by some of the more serious Liverpool away types. Some young lad picked some up to throw back at the home crowd and was promptly panelled by a small group of his own fans.

Helmets defo an option. I reckon that’s where the ‘cagoule zipped right up to the top’ look comes from. Plenty of neck protection!
