Cankles-McJeggings Not sure what you mean? If you mean the amount of draws and lack of scoring we’re currently having, I think teams have worked out that they need to sit deeper against us as it prevents Miggy running in behind / Trippier passing in which is our main supply line (and one which we’re clearly over reliant on). Last night reminded me of an older school Arsenal who liked to try and walk the ball into the net with endless passing around the opposite box. We definitely need some more creativity in midfield and someone who has the temperament / ability to try whacking it in from further out rather than the ‘pass it to Miggy’ angle we’re currently trying.
I think our players are starting to tire out too - which was inevitable with the high press style we’re going for. Particularly the world cup ones. (Trippier / Bruno are just such good players, they can still boss it even when tired but they aren’t as sharp as they were before the WC - Wilson looks done in too) I get that Howe doesn’t like to switch up a winning team (and our squad depth is woeful - the defeat against Sheffield in the FA cup because of the gap between the first 11 and the rest was painfully evident) but he’s going to have to soon. I think once the two cup Southampton games are done, he’ll have to change it up.
I’m not particularly concerned - The opposite actually - it’s nice to feel that the club is in safe professional hands for once and I’m not going to open twitter to find the manager calling sun reporters cunts (Joe Kinear’s finest moment) or Bruce’s endless ’it’s a process’ excuses as we lose game after game after game.
I said at the start of the season, top 10 finish and no relegation bollocks would be perfect so I’m on cloud 9 with it at the moment - some frustrating draws against teams we should perhaps beat but then Crystal Palace has always been a tough place to go for us. I’d have taken your arm off for a scoreless draw against Arsenal before the game. I actually think the club’s top brass are a bit taken aback by Howe’s success this season. There’s a master plan in place for the summer transfer window apparently but I think some people must be considering whether to try and push now.
Slightly frustrating but any fan whinging needs to give their head a wobble. Teams digging in against us is just a new found respect level we’re earning and it’s a lot better than teams knowing they would walk all over us in the past under Bruce’s tenure.
