Not arguing about midfielders needing to be more complete players, that’s an eternal truth that won’t go away.
What I am saying is that we need more cover in front of our back four against better teams, our back four still isn’t good enough. DvdB might have potential to offer enough defensive against better teams but I can’t tell if that’s true yet (though I understand that he has been ‘touted’ as a 10 I’m suspecting he can play across the midfield after learning his game @ Ajax).

One thing I will contend though @SM001 is that “tackling is becoming a lost art”. That’s lazy pundit speak, a bad cliche. It might be required less, but will never go out of the game. It’s actually more of an art now, due to the constraints imposed by the rules. AWB would be a good example of this, some weeks his tackling is phenomenal - just ask Raheem Sterling 🙂
