Mad_Cyril Old-Dutch Be an interesting bar to measure against when they ‘deal’ with other ‘irregularities’ Or to measure how bent football is
RichM They will still stay up as they are only 3 points to get out of relegation and this year there is some real shit at the bottom. Will be interesting to see if Leeds, Burnley and Leicester sue Everton now. That could fuck them over more
baggers44 RichM based on what though? …..their beef is surely with the PL for not sanctioning them earlier. Leeds would have gone down anyway with a 10 pt deduction for Everton last year. Proving causation of financial loss will be interesting.
alistair Everton get 10 points, but City and Chelsea carry on regardless for continuous breaches. Consistency?
RichM baggers44 it’s what the clubs have previously said. Agree they should also look at the role of the PL but if Everton cheated and the clubs believed it impacted them going down then why not. I can’t see clubs winning as it’s hypothetical anyway.
baggers44 RichM it will be interesting to see how they frame it - a breach of contract i assume but only if by the PL agreement clubs contact with each other not to breach the guidelines rather than simply having a contract with the PL. Otherwise it looks a huge longshot. i suppose if it was dishonest/ fraudulent there may be a route there. i will ask around
RichM Even the Guardian have mentioned it. Why should City and Chelsea get away with nothing when their situations in the past have been worse than Everton’s? https://www.theguardian.com/football/2023/nov/17/premier-league-financial-fair-play-everton-manchester-city-chelsea
Hursty RichM they shouldn’t but I expect they have better lawyers and bigger wallets to grease the necessary palms
Wally RichM They shouldn’t but they had the common sense to at least win while they were cheating. There’s no way on Earth the PL strip them of their titles. It would damage the brand irrepairably.
