Mad_Cyril I think I am already on that journey MC. Every season there are more and more little things that annoy me about the game, and I try not to get too excited after a win or too down after a defeat.

The realisation that every single club owner, foreign or otherwise, would, in a heart beat, vote for the game to be split into quarters so they could have more adverts and raise their income. It’s been long gone for me, it’s like trying to love and support some giant corporation.

It’s crazy isnt it. Why do we actually support these teams. Take Liverpool - over 90% of the team are not from Liverpool, dont care about Liverpool, probably dont even live there. They are employees of a company and I ‘celebrate’ when that company wins against another company. Barmy really.

Liverpool not the worst. Curtis Jones (from Liverpool) and Harvey Elliott (from Surrey but supported Liverpool… don’t they all say that when they sign though?) in the regular line-up these days. 2/11

gcw I don’t think any team has been about ‘home grown talent’ since about 1900, so I find that less irksome, but the ownership, behaviour of the owners, attitude of the owners, they’re things that do concern me.

The conversation tends to circle back to our collective attitude about historic footy clubs, do we value them as integral parts of our community and should the government give them special status. But, guess what, the clueless toffs in power couldn’t give one utter of a fuck about football, communities, or anyone but themselves, so nothing will happen and everything is for sale.
