  • Man Who Inherited Unimaginable Wealth and Privilege Isn’t Well

The comments section in The Times’ article on Charlie not being well is full of most vomit inducing bollocks I’ve ever read.

“Get well soon our beloved king” etc

Is anyone on here apart from DF a royalist? I’m amazed, especially given the last 15 years with rising poverty and a tanking economy, that people put up with this shit

The only Royals I have any time for are Harry and Anne, Sasuage fingers, his nonce brother and the rest of them can get in the fucking sea, the freeloading cunts

The only thing in their favour is they are preferable to President Blair, which is probably what we would have by now if we had the Irish model.

I remember getting abused on Bedrock when I discovered the monarchs would get around 20p from each taxpayer every year and made fun of it, so Im assuming there are some closet royalists in here.

bosstrabs if we had the Irish model.

Hey!! There’s nothing wrong with producing a mystical dwarf as President.

rhouses it’s £1.29 per person per year now

Once these village idiot Royal Fans die off where will the Royals be then? Still doing photo ops in front of naked bushmen out in the Solomon Islands I reckon. They’ll scrounge on.

I think the media play a part by underrepresenting anti-royal sentiment, even more left leaning press seem to permanently be in deference to them.

Air miles Andy and his useless fucking kids still living a jet set life style, whilst living standards are so miserable for so many is bonkers.

I would say that on a dispassionate and purely scientific/ academic level I am mildly pro-monarchy on the grounds that it generally produces the most peaceful and stable outcomes for the peasants, I mean citizens.

I’m not sayings its a perfect system and i’d be very happy to abolish it if we can come up with a demonstrably superior algorithm, i mean system.

One of the best reasons for having a monarchy, in my view, is that you get a good chuckle at those who get really exercised over the whole thing and turn up to royal occasions to shout things like “NOT MY KING!”. That never fails to put a smile on my face.

C_J Scousers hate the royal family. I may have to reconsider my position.

Can’t be arsed arguing their cause but I think a slimmed down royal family that is above the political fray is broadly speaking a good thing.

When the Queen died, someone on here (think it was @LT42 ) posted one of the funniest twitter clips I’ve ever seen - two old birds in tears outside Buckingham Palace ’I can’t believe she’s gone, she was OUR Queen’ etc and then a few mins later the two of them were doing an impromptu sing-a-long for the crowd, complete with hip-hip-hoorays and everything.

I should also mention the entertainment value of the Great British eccentrics at the other end of the spectrum, the hardcore flag waving badged-up guys. They always brighten my day too, the fucking state of them. It’s a sign of a civilised country. You don’t see that sort of thing in Russia.

I’d like to see court jesters make a comeback.

              OLB would be a shoo-in.

alistair As someone fairly detached from the Idea of the royal family being useful or necessary, can you explain that for me? What’s the value for what they cost?
