hugopal Now that this thread has petered out already, one thing I will add is - what respectable middle-class English family wears their shoes indoors?!
In my experience, quite a lot do Hugo. If anything, indoor shoe wearing seems to be even more likely among the middle classes, clopping around the tiled floor of their massive kitchen, showing off their German taps to their visitors.
I am totally against it, Asian are more civilised than us in two regards (but not every regard): 1. Slippers or shoe coverings for guests in the house 2. Sharing dishes rather than having your own meal all to yourself.
