bosstrabs One of the perks of dating a korean honey for a decade. Can walk into any korean bbq and genuinely impress the aunties running the place by ordering in the native tongue.

rhouses Bibimbap - (basically a DIY Korean rice dish, sort of like a mixed fried rice, I like this with beef)

Did Hanson not take this to number one in the 90s?

Went to Borough market yesterday for that Christmas sanger.

Couldn’t find the stall so got a lamb shawarma.

Just as I finished it I looked up and saw said Christmas sanger place.

WOULD YOU BLOODY BELIEVE IT?!

    Smallman1
    Signage obviously not BERKproof.

Could be a biz opportunity for you there Edwand?

My days of selling environmental design are behind me MC.

Large, complex multinationals my sweet spot nowadays!

Smallman1 doh, sounds like you missed a treat as heard great things about it

A lamb shawarma is still a winner at least

      RichM A lamb shawarma

I used to love the Edinburgh version of lamb shawarma, it’s basically an artery clogging mix of donna meat and processed cheese 😆

RichM No, well apart from the chips. I think that might be more Glaswegian.

        14 days later

        RichM that certainly looks great

        Oh it’s god.

Probably not for people like Whatever who like their Aunt Bessie’s with bisto.

Smallman1 Probably not for people like Whatever who like their Aunt Bessie’s with bisto.

          Mmmmhh beefy.

Smallman1 which did you go for?

Seems a bit limiting that all the mains have to be shared.

Went for the grilled lamb, Italian greens, salsa verde & roast potatoes.

          Was absolutely fantastic.

Spiced apple cake & bay custard and malt panna cotta, decana pear & oat crumble for dessert.

          Superb.

Smallman1 sounds lovely. Should have finished off with the aged Comte

            Would have killed me.

Which is why you suggested it I suspect.

I’ve just smashed lunch at the cheesecake factory. Delicious it was too.

After an old school steak last night. Americans know how to eat!

benson I’ve just smashed lunch at the cheesecake factory.

                Legendary, I miss that place.

                You bastard!!

Smallman1 38 sheets for ½ a roast chicken and some roasties. Seems a little on the expensive side for lunch no?

I’ll be honest, I’ve been to Cheesecake twice now (both for colleagues leaving dos), with everyone raving about it, and I don’t get the fuss about it at all.

Smallman1 jokes aside, is it worth a trip? As Camberwell is the arse end of london for someone living in essex. Also it’s a few doors down from Silk Road, which is a fantastic place to eat

Mad_Cyril it was a vision of hell when I walked in. Top floor of Macy’s in SF. Crowded. The coldest reception you could imagine.

Once sat down it was speedy, American, melted cheese everywhere and full of calories.

I fell into a food cons shortly after and have woken up at 3 to pop another melatonin.

                  Ed would love it.

Yes, this is what I hated about it. In the middle of Beijing’s busiest, most cunt-infested mall. Why would I want to go there for dinner?

Pizza about on a par with Domino’s.

Mad_Cyril Isn’t that a bit like criticising the crack in an Irish bar in Beijing?

I’m just saying I didn’t see why people enjoy particularly enjoy it. Is it the food? It can’t be the atmosphere of the place. May seem like a great place if you’re a Yank I suppose.

Zackster probably loves it, since he loves stuffing his face with calorific stodge, wears Starter clothes and he doesn’t score any Persians on his nights out anyway.

                      Reccos for SF:

Go Duck Yourself - despite the suspect name, these guys knock out the best Chinese roast duck and pork I’ve ever had. Sensational. They don’t have a seated restaurant, so you either need to pitch up at the shop, and eat al fresco, or you can order for delivery.

Miller’s Crossing - great little place in Nob Hill. Modern American I think is how they describe it. We ordered most of the starters as sharing plates, and loved them all.

Buster’s - best cheesesteak I’ve had. Brilliant lunch on the go.

Oh, and make sure you go for a drink at the Tonga Room at the Fairmont. Weird and slightly cheesy experience, but - seeing a tropical rainstorm in a cellar bar was a first for me…

                        vinnyt77 too late!

Football on Saturday in the last drop tavern. Santa con in full flow.

The rock yesterday. Brutal jet lag meant afternoon wipeout after cheesecake. Not helped by 3 hour late departure on Friday meaning I overcooked the champagne. I am shit going west with jet lag.

                        Heading to Carmel today.

benson I’m much worse heading West than East…

You heading down to LA? Any time in wine country??
