whatever When he was doing his Bunker mixes, he tended to apply some sort of reverb/delay/echo effect. I thought it was to give it more of a live club sound
Only just saw your post.
I mentioned this problem to someone who works for John when I caught one of his Bunker Sessions.
I never found out if I helped fix the problem, but the mixer John was using had a USB Out that I figured he sent the audio out with (whereas I would use a the back of the mixer’s Rec-Out, plug in an RCA cable pair and put them into a sound card, into a streaming laptop). People tended not to stream much before lockdown, so using these USB outs caused issues that seemed to catch the manufacturers off guard.
I heard the echo and suggested that the mixer might need a firmware update as the manufacturer ‘fixed an issue where efx / the next channel would be heard when transmitting only via audio through USB Out’ - suggesting if this was an issue that John wouldn’t have been able to hear it in his room’s speakers that were wired into XLR - only the streamers would hear it.
I’m now left wondering if anyone noticed the echo stopped happening. I’d be surprised if it was deliberate to be honest as I doubt he would want to muddy or spoil his sound.
Did the problem carry on all the time or eventually stop? (maybe you know @Homegrove )
