  • Most Enduring Commercial Mix Comps

Tenaglia Athens is probably my fave mix CD of all time, along with Decks EFX & 909.

However, it’s certainly NOT commercial, never has been.

I actually remember trying to stick it on at a house party once, it got frisbeed in favour of that awful Clubbers’ Bible CD.

OK Zackster, so everything which isn’t Venetian Snares or some hideous Surgeon mix then.

bosstrabs can’t say I ever really got into Surgeon. I have some stuff but I always preferred Regis.

btw, I respect how you tried to sneak back into the thread, like when George Costanza quit his job then returns, hoping no one noticed.

Go and buy some new trabs Zackster

I am loaded with fly kicks for the moment, but I do have my eye on the Stüssy Birkenstock collabs

Tenaglia Athens is a cracking shout!

Not often ed and I agree on anything but 007 is a masterpiece.

i’m going to have to listen to 007 again, i remember it being trash, but it’s been probably 20 years.

That one mix Shiloh did for Proton Radio was really timeless.

              You bitch, you absolute bitch!

              Smallman1

Tracks 9 to 12 on mix 2 goes into another dimension…

              Both discs sensational.

But yes, tops off stuff that!

007 has some drum and bass on if I remember.

              Massive s to the werve.

Trying to pick up on a ‘thing’ because its perceived as cool, but actually the house equivalent of an embarrassing uncle playing some ‘EDM’ or an ironic hipster cereal bar

Oakenfold often played breakbeat back in the day, if not necessarily proper drum n bass.

Good to see MC having an absolute reg.

Was about this time Cream opened up the courtyard to drum and bass regularly.

Was a fucking embarrassment, loads of white kids looking awkward, dancing like electrocuted potatoes, desperately hoping they were first in on the next big thing.

                Oslo was way better.

Some OK tracks for the time, from what I remember anyway, but just typical Oakey - rushed mixes that are horrifically out of key.

Dave will love my Nor Way post.

                  BANTS!

I can’t imagine Oakey playing good DnB but I do enjoy it as a style. Being 16 and into club music in america really limits what you can hear live, and for what ever reason Jungle and Gabber were the two styles that did all these all ages out door parties in my area, and I will always have a soft spot for both.

D’n’B is good for an hour or so.

                    No more.

Not dissing it as a genre Zack.

But not one you can easily drop into your sets or club nights just because its perceived as cool.

Its so different to some stuff that you can’t just throw it in there, loses all context.

Would be like Jeff dropping some S Club 7 mid set

This tells me everything I need to know.

                      Not a clue.

With all of the dog shit suggestions, I have to say I am shocked that not a single Digweed mix has come up. Telling.

Can’t remember the last time I heard a Digweed mix comp tbh.

CD1 London about 18 months ago perhaps.
