I just finished season 1 of The Wire last night. Whilst I did enjoy it, I wasn’t as blown away as I had expected to be? I had heard it was ‘the greatest tv show ever’ but I wouldn’t call it that. Will deffo watch the rest of the seasons though.

Amps the one thing I did like was that it appears to be very realistic in terms of the length of time it takes cops to investigate drugs etc. Whole episodes where they are just monitoring the wire and getting no intel from it.

The Wire S2 is intricate and immensely tragic. The media themed S5 can also seem weak, but if you treat it like a comedy it’s brilliant and hilarious in so many parts.

Cheers for all the replies re The Wire. I think what hampered me somewhat was that I started it about 6 months ago, did a few episodes here and there, and then finished the 2nd half of s1 in the last few weeks…..but I had almost forgotten what that first part of the season was about, who the characters were etc. So found it tough following the storyline

I won’t do that with the rest of the seasons

Both have given me so much pleasure I have done the full boxsets at least twice.

The two greatest TV shows ever. Both floundered in their last season only slightly.

Love/Hate was excellent. Top Boy even better. Barry Keoghan also makes a brief appearance in the latest series of that.

Along_the_Wire just finished season 3 tonight. Not often you watch a great series like that but glad when the last episode has finished! Brilliant but brutal show. Seems like there will be a 4th season

I’ve done season 2 of the The Wire in the last week. It’s very good isn’t it? The writing, story telling etc is first class. A few scenes added in and you think ’what’s that got to do with anything ' and then 2 or 3 episodes later it all becomes clear.

I’m not entirely sure what Omar’s beef is and whose side he is on (if he’s even on one) and it’s quite hard to follow what he’s saying at times, but suspect all will become evident!

Will wait a few days before starting season 3.

gcw I’m jealous. Thought the second series was rubbish first time round, but was watching weekly - having re-seen it’s the best of the lot. Omar is a fucking god.
