Wally …I think it’s all done quite deliberately from the exclusive POV of Aubrey’s ship, which is kinda intentional as the books were written in claustrophobic, Captain’s Log fashion. I dunno, it’s not wall-to-wall action but I guess I enjoyed it in part because of that.
Reading the articles from the last couple of days, it seems they kinda stitched themselves up by starting with a book right in the middle of the series, all the characters already established etc. I think a prequel could be interesting, Aubrey and and his bezzy (Bettany’s character) originally hated each other and even fought a duel
