Yeah, I’ve never had that problem. The action part you’re speaking of has no dialogue other than “GOOOO!”. Never thought the dialogue was barely audible either, maybe its an issue with these fancy speaker setups. 🤷‍♂️

After my recent purchase and doing a bit of the Googling, I genuinely believe it’s an issue with modern TVs and not the film. Sound bars = Emperors new clothes.

Amps It’s been very good to me, though the woofer kept konking the third year. Mostly my fault I believe, didn’t have a ups back up, and Bangalore can get pretty bad with the electricity fluctuations. Bose replaced it with a refurbished one for about $150, looked brand new tbf. The actual
Soundbar has been going strong too.

The thing covers my living room (the adaptiq technology is very cool) and it’s perfect for playing music too - control everything on the phone. Nothing against Heat, but Batman Begins & The Dark Knight sounded magnificent on it.

Amps I believe it’s an issue with the mastering. The producer/director/sound engineer wants you to jump out your chair when the bangs go off so they force you to crank the sound up to hear the dialogue.

C_J Yeah, what is known as the ‘loudness wars’, not new really. But modern TVs are so geared towards low end, so as to give you the ‘cinema experience’ if fucks the balance of the overall output. Hence speech in the mid range gets lost. I had issues with the the new TV just watching the news or Homes Under The Hammer. Happy to be wrong.

Amps isn’t it the opposite of the loudness war or is the term used differently with movies/tv than music? the loudness war refers to massively over compressed music, usually with less bass that eats up headroom. the problem with movies now is that there’s too much dynamic range, it’s actually not being compressed enough.

Thought it was an issue if you’re using standard TV speakers (dialogue way quieter than effects), but if you hook up a soundbar with satellites it’s ok.

There’s a dialogue function on the soundbar that’s quite nifty for loud action movies, hadn’t discovered it when I was watching heat. Maybe next time.

303abuser I would bow to your knowledge on this one. I figured it would be a bit of a mix of the two. The audio is massively over compressed, because thats what everyone does these days and it has to sound as good on your phone as it does the cinema, and then your TV which is desperately trying to be a cinema is massively out of whack and trying to push the bottom end.

Amps i don’t really know for sure either. it just seems to be a growing problem and i find i’m destroying my ears having to turn the volume up just to hear the dialogue in most movies.
