I like the “watch Friday forget Monday” movie. Most things these days are like 6 parts this, 8 parts that. I have to invest time and energy into the characters and plot. Fuck that. I often would prefer to just be in and done within 120 minutes.
Look at “A Few Good Men”. It’s a perfect movie. Today it would be 7 hours with 5 being entirely unnecessary. That said, some background on Kiefer Sutherland’s character would be highly enjoyable.
