Oppenheimer - Was worried, real worried after reading Jules’ review. And luckily there was nothing to worry about. First 10-15 mins it was looking and feeling dicey with all the time jumps, and the constant quick cuts to fire works. Besides being high out of my face, I just didn’t want to make an effort to watch this fucking thing. But it gets coherent fast, and you actually start appreciating the play with time through the entire thing. Nothing wrong with the sound, most of it is dialogue driven and there was full clarity. Glad it wasnt Hans doing the soundtrack, because there is a marked difference - in fact, there were shades of electronica Sasha in it imo. The acting is brilliant, probably the best thing about this movie. Script and pacing also solid.
If you’re a WWII history buff, you can’t miss this. It would be a loss. Don’t think you’d need the cinema for the visuals, but maybe for the sound. Otherwise easily watchable at home.
Nolan does especially well to maintain the tone of doom through out, even with the quirkiness that comes with it being centered around colourful Jewish scientists. This is definitely one of his good ones and should see some Oscars, looking at you CJ.
