Millsy I’ll upvote that. I watch a lot of movies, but I also have a huge amount of blind spots.
Wife and I watched Boogie Nights again after I was inspired for more PTA after this discussion. Only my second time seeing it. I asked her if I could start it over three minutes in, because I wanted to just marvel at the opening tracking shot. It goes from crane to handheld, jesus. All in all he got more original later. Boogie Nights is clearly a movie from someone who watched Goodfellas and Casino over and over again.
Then I wanted to watch The Limey (1999) because I thought of it during Boogie Nights because it shares a few actors. The wife slept through most of it. It might not be Soderbergh’s best movie, but it’s probably my my favorite of his. I’ve got the 2019 remaster on Blu Ray, and it looks fantastic.
