Phil-McRackin I was surprised watching the trailer to see McGregor putting in what appeared to be an uncharacteristically nuanced and understated performance.

Been just watching old movies on Prime Video now, after discovering they’ve got the remastered versions which look amazing. The Blues Brothers last night, and started For A Few Dollars More today, will finish tomorrow. Haven’t the patience for it now, but that too is a well done digital transfer. I do love how Sergio Leone’s westerns are mostly ugly men staring each other. Once Upon a Time in the West is coming to 4K Blu Ray in May, that one I want to actually buy on disc. The best western ever, and top 5 movies for me otherwise too.

erik Yeah! I sort of thought I knew what I’d get with Roadhouse- a bit like with Beekeeper (quite enjoyed the latter as it delivered everything I was hoping for). But this was so much worse than expected. The CGI is terrible- car accelerations look like Star Trek warp drive, boat crashes have water drops landing and forming beads on the beach sand. Gyllenhaal’s simian grin and CMcG’s inexplicable pauses before delivering lines coupled with the cliched flight choreography were the nail in the coffin.
