To be fair it’s at least twenty years since I saw that film so I’m not 100% sure how I’d feel about it if I watched it tomorrow. A lot of the Cohen brothers can be a bit marmitey. If you’re not quite in the right headspace it can seem alienating but it hits hard if you can find a route into it.

I found the Ballad of Buster Scruggs to be, in the main, horseshit. Barring a couple of decent scenes and characters it was boring as fuck.

LT42 was too zany and wacky, but I absolutely loved that section with Tom Waits .

Yeah the Tom Waits-section was great.

Rebel Ridge (2024, Netflix). This was for me the best new action movie I’ve probably seen since Haywire (don’t John Wick at me). Jeremy Saulnier’s been an awesome indie director for his whole career, great to see him also succeed in doing something for the masses. This should have been in the theatres.

Rebel Ridge didn’t do much for me. Felt like it was missing something. The lead was annoying and wooden also. The storyline is extremely generic, you kinda know what’s going to happen and you’re sort of just waiting for it. Meh overall.

The Union (2024)

Halle Berry and Mark Wahlberg in a paint by numbers action film which didn’t require much thought, which is exactly what me and the wife wanted on a Saturday night.

Must say, watching 58 year old Halle Berry in leather trousers is not the worst way to spend a couple of hours either.
