CANKLEHAMMER II
Months after his mysterious disappearance, the hammer-wielding vigilante Cankles McJeggings resurfaces to terrorize Sydney’s Botanical Gardens. Violent midnight assaults on suspected predators have the city divided once more: some call him a necessary force against evil, while others condemn him as an extrajudicial killer.
But this time, Hannu Pussikalja—a Finnish-Australian activist for transgender rights—arrives equipped with more than just courage. Armed with a curious new ally—a trusty, high-powered vacuum cleaner—Hannu patrols the Gardens’ dimly lit pathways to shine a light on Cankles’s brand of vigilante “justice” and protect those he targets. While the vacuum initially seems like an odd choice of defense, Hannu’s tech-savvy modifications and quick thinking soon prove it can do more than suck up dust.
Detective Tina Vortex, who once came close to capturing Cankles, finds herself caught in a race against time as Hannu’s unorthodox tactics draw them closer—and more dangerously so—to the vigilante. As Hannu and Cankles clash in midnight showdowns, the hammer and the vacuum collide in a tense, unexpected battle of wits and weaponry.
Will a meticulously rigged household appliance actually hold its own against a hammer of brutal force?
And can Sydney finally break free from Cankles McJeggings’s dark grip once and for all?
In a world where justice supposedly wears heavy boots, sometimes the most unassuming tool can tip the scales. CANKLEHAMMER II asks how far you’re willing to go—and what you’re willing to wield—to stand up for what’s right.
7.5/10, not as good as CANKLEHAMMER I.
To be honest, CANKLEHAMMER has gone a bit too woke with Hannu’s inclusion.
Who needs a purple-haired vacuuming superhero?

After dispatching another baddie with a thorough tidy up, he drops his well-known calling card before leaving the scene, a tampax with a glued on moustache made of cat hairs.
Babygirl was great if you can ignore how plastic Nicole Kidman’s face is. Horny movies seem to be back.
Alien Resurrection (1997)
Short review - bang average, but way way better than Alien 3
Longer review - not a bad concept which they almost pulled off, but I feel that it was let down by how ludicrous the boss alien looked at the end (it had moobs ffs).
Also the paraplegic mechanic in a wheelchair - wtf?
Some of the effects were OK though, and it was suitably gory. The hierarchy is clearly Alien>Aliens>Alien Resurrection >Alien 3

Conclave. This has come in for some stick, but don’t really understand why - superbly acted, even John Lithgow does a good job and that’s no mean feat - previously, I’ve considered his job to ruin every film he’s in. Loved the pacing and the vague tension. 8/10
Along_the_Wire Trying to watch this during dry January could send me over
S to the etc etc
Along_the_Wire I loved his camp as a row of Smallmans performance in Cliffhanger tbh.
Along_the_Wire Enjoyed it right up until the final ‘reveal’, and ended feeling, fuck this. Ugh.
Along_the_Wire I have a lot of love for that film. Some of the shots were amazing, the first meeting in the screening room, the umbrellas…
The Godfather
Way more boring than I remember. Could be hacked down to an hour. All the tension Coppola brings to Apocalypse Now is just scenery here. We know I’m not a mobster fan, but this just bad film making.
