A Real Pain: Finished this feeling slightly underwhelmed. Poland as a setting doesn’t help. But in retrospect, it’s actually quite a funny and sweet movie about brotherhood. There’s so much depression mixed in with the quirky slice of life moments, it can be confusing. Culkin basically playing a watered down version of his Succession character with an award worthy performance. Just when he’s veering towards full asshole mode, you’re still finding him funny, but also quite sad for him. The ending lands nicely, but hardly a tear jerker. The missus and I didn’t smoke nearly enough pot for it, think it would have worked a bit better if we were absolutely blitzed.
