I’m very sorru for your loss. Your mother was a terribly attractive woman.

Attack the Block (2011). Aliens attack a council estate in South London. Bunch of kids who start the movie by mugging Jodie Whitekar fight back.

I loved this. Laughed a lot. The aliens look like shit, but I feel like this had the budget of the director’s credit card so I’m willing to forgive them for lack of funds for proper CGI. At least the design is original.

“Well, ’ere, lads, you’ve discovered a species hitherto unknown to science, quite possibly non-terrestrial in origin, and you kicked its fuckin’ head in!”

Dick Van Dyke was in it?!

There Will Be Blood finally re released in the cinemas this week, gold class as well. Been waiting too long for a PTA joint on the big screen.

Going tomorrow with the missus, might go again on Sunday night.

rhouses obviously an amazing film, but what’s the specifics around snack strategy?

Millsy new ramen place down the road from the cinema, with the best karrage in the city - will take the missus there for an early lunch. Probably go for spicy sesame broth and some gyoza as well. Sneak in baggies of those sour gummy bears and nerds gummy clusters in the man bag for the movie after.

Sunday night show I’ll be fasting.

Only 18 years after the UK release date.

Homegrove I’m not sure what’s the best snack-strategy for going to see Warfare this weekend? Do I even want snacks for it @rhouses ?

      Here you go H!

rhouses just one IMAX in Finland, and it’s in Helsinki. Couldn’t even get iSense at a reasonable screening time because Thunderbolts* still own those. But it’s a big room at least.

There Will Be Blood: Flawless. The time flew in the cinema. Missus enjoyed it as well, which is funny, because she pretty much said fuck this within 10 mins when we watched it at home a couple years back. Maybe it’s fatherhood, but the HW Daniel Plainview relationship hit especially hard this time around. The kid does an amazing job. Every single bit with Eli is even more hilarious. What a cunt. The script really does get richer and richer with each watch.

      10 / 10 no contest.

Warfare (2025). 5/5. Not as tough to watch as I psyched myself for it to be beforehand, about the same as Black Hawk Down when it comes to that. Pure meatgrinder though for sure. Every actor was great, good to see young Gandolfini start to pop up here and there. I bet this will be seen similarly in the future as Black Hawk Down is seen now when it comes to the cast, that movie was full of future stars, and I bet a lot of these guys will have similar careers as many in that film did.

The sound design was probably the greatest I’ve ever heard. When those jets flew over it shook your body every time.

Homegrove agree with all that apart from Black Hawk Down - boring old shite that.

rhouses with Sinners, Black Bag and now this 2025 has been a great movie year already. All 5/5 bangers for me.

Homegrove sinners is too hyped, not for me. black bag is decent but it really felt like a netflix movie.

I think so too, but it’s still a pretty good film

              Dirty Harry (1971).

Watched the new 4K Blu ray with the original theatrical mono audio (which has been unavailable since the 80s apparently). The 4K remaster is also available via Apple, just with a revisionist Dolby Atmos-mix. Getting into collecting physical media again I turned faster into an audio purist than you can say “snob.” This was practically a first watch, it’s been so many years since I saw it at a way too young age probably.

What a dirty movie lol. It certainly surprises me I had forgotten how much full frontal female nudity this had. Yet nobody says fuck or even a shit. Otherwise it also felt much more of a sixties film, than yet seventies.
