Frankenstein (2025). Dunno which will we be more annoying to people, the (by design surely) melodramatic acting, or the shoddy CGI. But I enjoyed it a lot. Surely at least better adaptation of the novel then the 90s Branagh-film with Robert DeNiro as the monster? The sets and costumes are magnificent, my only real gripe is the too sharp digital cinematography, the scenes shot in nature looked like the latest season of Planet Earth.
The Shape of Water (2017). We followed Frankenstein with Del Toro’s best picture-winner. I didn’t remember how good this actually is. It’s got a reputation as a bad choice to win the Oscar, but I can think of worse travesties easily.
