Tbf im rarely ordering in at the cinema, given the restaurant options around the theatre i go to for gold class. The imax cinema however is in a mall, and was reminded how annoying it is waiting in a long ass line to get some popcorn, a hot dog and hot chocolate.

Syriana (2005)

Decent geopolitical thriller starring George Clooney, and Matt Damon, centred on oil relations in the Persian Gulf and all the expected skullduggery linked to it. Clooney rarely makes a bad movie IMO.

Millsy $10 for gold class, $5 on Tuesdays. IMAX is usually just under $5. Regular screens are about $3. Weekends, prices go up about 25% across the board.

I try not to think about societal cost, being unemployed watching a ton of morning shows on weekdays, after the daughter goes school.

The Fall (2006).
Watched on Mubi before the three months for 1 € deal runs out.
I’m a big fan of Tarsem Singh’s The Cell (the serial killer movie from 2000 with Jennifer Lopez), and this (also directed by him) makes that look visually poor. Like Roy’s story this movie also had a messy ending, but everything up to that point is pretty amazing. Shot in over 30 countries all on location this is like Baraka with a plot.

I reckon it worked well as an allegory for cultural appropriation of black music. Good cast and great soundtrack. Unfortunately as with most horror films it lost me at the “monster” reveal. The last act was boring.

It would have been much better focusing on the supernatural aspect of the music, which in of itself was a neat idea. 6/10
