Forgot the “extra” movies. Yeah, Rogue One is better than anything outside the original trilogy. And if you’re doing the chronologically you should’ve watched Solo (pretty bad) and Rogue One after the prequels.

Don’t do much geek stuff. Just not into comic books or science fiction. I guess I enjoyed those Infinity MCU movies but that was more the spectacle of it all.

I was just about to watch Antiviral, which was until now on Prime, and the feckers have pulled it. Serves me right for having it in my list for too long. It won’t be the first time their bastard algorithm has done that.

Yeah, Possessor is proper gore. Loved the effects which apparently weren’t CGI. Deffo needs another watch.

Andrea Riseborough is a class act. Great in ZeroZeroZero too.
Had a bit of an issue with Sean Bean….I do wonder whether everyone outside the UK sees him as having a posh English accent…bit jarring hearing his gruff Yorkshire voice in this.

Star was added to Disney+ today, and browsed a bit, lots of old favorites that are not anywhere else, nothing high brow but lots of decent movies. Went with Grosse Pointe Blank.

One of my all time favorites I haven’t seen too many times, but could watch almost any day. Definitely John Cusack’s best movie, maybe even Dan Aykroyd’s (POP CORN!), but pretty much everyone shines on this one. The writing is also very good, could not believe how good some of the dialogue was. 5/5.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Watched on the recommendation of another animator / visuals mate. Good fun if a little long. Brilliant art direction choices. I assume there will be a follow up, hope they go weirder, I like my sci-fi a little trippy.

Three and a bit drop frames out of five.

Another Round (2020, downloaded)

directed by Thomas Vinterberg (Jagten/The Hunt). Starring Mads Mikkelsen and Thomas Bo Larsen. About a bunch of average middle aged guys who start drinking during their jobs as a sort of social experiment.

I just love anything with Mads in it to be fair. This is a funny, silly, touching, entertaining movie. Not the same level of greatness as Jagten but highly recommended nonetheless.

The Place Beyond the Pines (2012, iPlayer)

this is an epic, ambitious, three-part multi-generational affair with a Ryan Gosling heist-thriller story running into a political drama with Ray Liotta and Bradley Cooper that runs into a coming-of-age tale with Dane DeHaan.

I liked it a lot. The first ten minutes of this movie are, in my opinion, just about perfect.

Along_the_Wire nice one Grant. Absolutely loved the way those opening scenes just drop you right into their world and tells you everything about Gosling’s character without any dialogue. Brilliant stuff.
