Jules72 Really enjoyed that. Carey Mullighan is class in it and the screenplay is a deserving winner of the oscar. I imagine how much a guy will enjoy it will inversely relate to how much they like to take advantage of drunken women.

The best picture-winner Nomadland is coming to Disney+ (here at least) on Friday. Will try to fit that and Sound of Metal on the telly next weekend.

Thief (1981, Blu-ray)

Michael Mann and Jim Belushi’s debut movie. Raw and gritty film-noir crime drama set in Chicago with James Caan as a safe breaker trying to do one last big score and get out of the game.

Amazing cast, fantastic atmospheric and dark. as hell. Looks amazing for a forty year old.

Genuine classic.

That date he goes on with his bird is hilarious. Shows up hours late. Berates her. Throws her in the car against her will. They yell at each other over coffee. Like what is even going on here. Excellent film.

C_J pretty much agree with this..enjoyable but was hoping for more following the directors previous film….

Which was a bit much overall but had some interesting action scenes.

Bale makes the film imo, brilliant peformance.

mono-stereo watched Empire of the Sun the other day. A bit strange watching an oompah loompa Bale dressed as Jimmy Krankie for the opening half hour. His face hasn’t aged much since he was 13 and so it just looks like bad CGI for paedos.

Great film though.
