The Girl With The Bracelet. Often very uncomfortable French courtroom drama with some irritating elements, but definitely worth a watch. Tense. 7.5/10

Coincidentally enough, had this on the tele while working today from home. With our man Ruffalo.

Didn’t like it when it came out (Scorsese expectations, maybe) but warmed up to it recently. The ending is a bit silly but the island is beautiful and I like the creepy vibe. The brooding soundtrack is good, too.

Worst scorcese movie I’ve ever seen. But I’m far from seeing them all.

That said, every actor was great in it.

Homegrove Ruffalo is absolutely brilliant in that new TV show - I Know This Much Is True. It’s a really bleak and extremely depressing series and I’m not sure the subject matter will interest everyone for entertainment, but the acting in it is just first class. Was a bit close to home for me and this missus was finding herself tear up in regular intervals. I can’t imagine how tough it must have been to be dealing with mental health issues from the 60s-80s.

Life of Crime - free on Curzon12. One to appease the missus, but actually enjoyed it - silly kidnap caper with Tim Robbins and a pretty good Jennifer Anniston. 6.5/10

Spotlight was as good as I remembered. Few movies that are two hours long, and where very little happens, fly by like that. It’s either the script, or just very good editing.

Eventually watched Infernal Affairs. Absolute cracker of a film - definitely disappointed that Scorsese simply stole the story for The Departed. 9/10

Denzel is magnificent in this. Haven’t seen for nearly 20 years, and despite knowing how it turns out, I still had something stuck in my eye in the final scenes…

I don’t think I’ve ever seen that. And I’m a huge Denzel guy. Have to give it a go. Based in Paterson, NJ no less. Done some trainings out there. Proper dump of a town but I enjoyed my stays. Speaking of, watched this not too long ago…

Excellent flick. Tarantino put it on his top 10 for the 2010’s. Think it was Tony Scott’s last film.

Tarantino did the Rewatchables podcast reviewing Unstoppable. Tried to watch it but struggled. Felt way too stylised.

I rewatached Unstoppable recently too and while I did enjoy it still, the camera constantly whizzing round the train cabin really got on my tits. I know that’s Tony Scott but it annoyed me more in this than many of his others.

Phil-McRackin Yeah exactly that. Plus I couldn’t do a whole movie of that 00’s dark greenish action-thriller colour scheme.

Eden Lake: Horror, slasher movie about a bunch of diabolical chavs, most of whom are dressed how I imagine Comer dresses. Quite a few gruesome scenes and frightening cat and mouse moments. Fassbender is surprisingly cheesy in it, rookie work. Kelly Reilly (what a honey) is very good in it though, as are all the kids playing the chavs. The last 10 minutes are some of the most chilling and confusing moments I’ve experienced in a movie like this. 8.⅒
