Got about 2/3rds of the way through Voorn’s GU and couldn’t take any more of it. It’s horrendous on so many levels. And this is from somebody who holds his Balance as one of their all time fav comps. Actually, this GU is so bad I am reluctant to go back and listen again to his Balance mix again in case I was woefully wrong all along. Immediately after turning the shite off, I bunged on his RA from 2007 which reminded me that once he could put together a proper solid mix without all of the fucking about with 20 second snippets from a thousand tracks.
Ricky Ryan will be shitting in his grave.

It’s just about alright and probably won’t listen to it again. Apple Music saves me an absolute fortune
Listening to Voorn’s mixes you have to approach them like Hawtin’s Transitions-mix from 2005. Similar approach, completely different kind of music. Not that I ever listen to that snooze-fest again these days.

Same here with Spotify.
Much cheaper to hit the swerve button
I really enjoyed CD2 in particular from the GU Voorn.
Far better release than his fabric mix which never progressed beyond dull on re-listening.
Apologies in advance, if this is retread, but I’ve only just got my copy of the new Autechre album. Only given it one listen, so far, and I have to say it’s a real head twister. Didn’t go too IDM with things, which I think is a real positive. Those live sessions they put out this time last year were a massive waste of my money. I am not sure if this new one will have any staying power, as it’s pretty fucking weird, but still my initial reaction is that it is very good.
zackster I like it. We may have some common ground, Z
I ordered the deluxe set that comes with the CD and Blu Ray. A bit expensive at 50 €, but I have great fondness for that era of Pink Floyd, for A Momentary Lapse of Reason was the first album of their I remember, because my big brother bought a copy, and played it a lot.
They could remaster the video for Blu Ray because it was shot with film. The Earls Court performance of Pulse was shot on video, so DVD is the best we’ll ever get of that.
Homegrove The Earls Court performance
I was at that concert with my father. It was the most emotional live show I’ve ever been to. My Brother would have been there with us but he sadly passed away before the gig.
Do you not like the older Pink Floyd stuff? I much prefer the older stuff. I think Animals is probably my favourite now . It did take me years to like it though.
Dubman oh yeah of course, all the older stuff just came later for me. Got really into Pink Floyd for good after Division Bell came out, now I almost never listen to that one anymore, despite it having some really good tunes like Keep Talking.
My favorite these days to put on almost at any time is Atom Heart Mother.
