Went for a 180 km ride today. 90km to my uncles and back. Fell to pieces at 85 km with a puncture, Co2 adapter was broken, fucked the new innertube when I put it in and basically had a EOS level reg. Wlaked the last 5km to my uncles house and got the train home.
I’m going tubeless
benson tubeless is a mess and not worth the hassle. Just learn to get good equipment and replace tubes.
benson EOS level reg
You rang?!
Been running tubeless tires for years without any problems or mess. Had a couple of punctures last year. I plugged the holes and there still going strong without any loss of air. The biggest problem I had was seating the tires but that probably down to the size of the tire itself.
Dubman MTBs and Gravel bikes are different gravy, especially given the rate of tyre wear and the terrain your on.
Along_the_Wire I gathered it would be different on a road bike. I can imagine you go through tires fairly quickly. How long do road tires last?
Dubman About every three months on my commuter
Wow. That is short. I read an article the other day about some of TDF riders were using tire inserts. Could they prolong tire wear.
Dubman No, would just offer better puncture protection.
My MTB tires last at least 2 years but they are 2.5″ tubeless ready.
I make tyres last years but I’m a stingy northerner 😂
Hursty I ride conti 5000 GPs - trade grip and rolling resistance for wear. Race on Vitoria Corsa Speed on the TT bike - fucking thin as you like
Along_the_Wire I think I’ve got the vottorias on the systemsix. They are getting binned. I’ll take the aero hit
benson Victoria tyres are absolutely shit unless you’re at the top end and performance is everything. Definitely makes a difference in TTs. For my other bike is GP5000s - they’re fantastic, great grip and protection for a race-quality tyre.
Absolutely magnificent couple of days in Mallorca. 130km down. Cheeky 70 tomorrow and a 200+ on Thursday.
No broccoli in sight.
Any kitchen sinks knocking about?
I am in port d’andratx. Full of impossibly beautiful people.
Obvs I’m kitchen sinking it in an Italian restaurant that even has red abd white check tablecloths.
Oh and tubeless is amazing. Hutchinson fusiob5 25s but on a run that is 32 wide.
Tubeless has been effortless and riding at 80psi is so much more comfortable.
Disc brakes and tubeless on carbon wheels. Living the dream.
benson Disc brakes and tubeless on carbon wheels. Living the dream
Got the same setup on my MTB only I run mine at about 22psi
benson cycling isn’t meant to be comfortable, Benson. Tubeless is way too much faff for road bikes - spend your money on expensive tubes like SuperSonics, latex or those horrible orange things.
What are you PBs up Puig Major and Sa Calobra?!
I’ve got discs on me hybrid lads, am I hardcore now?
Mad_Cyril Depends on what size you’re rotors are.
