I loved being made redundant. A good pay out at the right time. House paid, kids school fees covered and a regular income drawing down on my savings until my pensions kick in. Earned 55k last year contracting and then took 3 months off. Started another job in November paying good money, most of which goes into my pension. Most of the country are going into meltdown over the cost of living, I’m just going about my day.

Dry-Tinder so if most of your 55K earnings went into your pension, what are you actually living off mate? Even without a mortgage and the school fees, the Council tax, leccie, gas and car fuel is an easy £10k a year by itself and you haven’t even started eating and the rest

The 55k last year was additional income. I’m drawing down on my savings monthly until I am 55, and then I will start on my pensions. I can put anything over 20k (minimum wage) into a workplace pension tax-free. I pay myself a monthly salary from my savings, but if I work I take the money from the monthly salary instead and let the savings build, which in turn will allow me to hold back on drawing the pension at 55
