        303abuser I did some reading on Ivermectin and what he says checks out. Not that Iā€™ll be downing it in any time soon but its not ā€œHorse pasteā€ which seems to be the latest nomenclature. Strange times. Some craic if it was the cure and social media killed off the idea because of Joe Rogan.

            Iā€™ve got no idea whether Ivermectin should or shouldnā€™t be used against Covid, but much of the scepticism and ridicule around it that Iā€™ve seen appears to relate to the fact that itā€™s commonly used on horses - well Iā€™m just going to point out that a certain tranquiliser commonly used on horses is also quite popular with humans, so it doesnā€™t seem worthy of immediate dismissal on that front at least.

                    Along_the_Wire Iā€™m just pointing out that it could be a cheap tactic to discredit it, which ultimately has no relevance as to whether itā€™s actually useful or not.

                    Likewise citing that itā€™s backed by ā€œlunatic anti-vaxxersā€ could be a lazy attempt to discredit by association, which again has no actual bearing on its potential efficacy.

                    Again, I genuinely donā€™t feel informed enough to weigh in on whether it may or may not be beneficial, but Iā€™m just noting some snide deflection which doesnā€™t contribute anything to the relevant debate.

                        I think this will be a surprise to most but itā€™s actually most commonly used on humans with great success (Africa mostly). Which is why the online branding of it as a drug for horses only seems a little cynical to me and suggests a smear campaign. I wonder why?
                        Iā€™ve bought bangers off shady bastards in dark corners of clubs for many a year, passing said bangers onto friends who danced, skipped and whistled whilst necking them without so much as a by your leave.                             LT42 thereā€™s really weak evidence to indicate it may help with shortening duration of symptoms post-infection for some people, but there is absolutely no evidence for prophylactic use.
