C_J Now you know that, do you think that the lock downs were the best option?
Along_the_Wire my feeling is that the lockdowns were half-arsed and if we were going to do them at all they should’ve been stricter. Maybe not welding the doors strict but certainly grounding all flight and army blockades strict. Close all shops and businesses and distribute food parcels strict, at least in the hotspots.
soft lockdowns with no actual enforcement was the worst of both worlds imo.
benson y
benson It was being run by management consultants who see nurses as an all encompassing description rather than appreciate the specialisation required within different roles.
Yeah that rings true enough. And I can see that the nurses reps were speaking out about being asked to do stuff they weren’t trained for. No doubt they’d have been for the chop if they made a mistake as well.
I hope those responsible for this mess are held to account and the NHS gets better leadership.
LT42 they’re flat broke for USD because their central bank was trying to stop the currency depreciating by selling 10s of billions of USD, which btw was the banking sector’s USD not the central bank’s… they were literally going bankrupt so had to switch policy. Blame Erdogan and Albayrak, not the new strategy
Jules72 Who implemented the batshit strategy, Jules? I’m fully up to speed on the ballsup btw.
Albayrak going missing and having all his social media accounts deleted a few months ago was funny.
Good job, you silly bastard, now off to the gulag.
Just had my AstraZeneca jab. Which was nice.
Along_the_Wire nice one dude
Along_the_Wire Just had my AstraZeneca jab. Which was nice.
The GREAT British vaccine.
Well played good sir!
C_J soft lockdowns with no actual enforcement was the worst of both worlds imo.
I agree with this.
C_J personally think you do it China style or not at all… I think everybody would accept a month being completely confined indoors vs 4, 5 or 6 months of never ending semi lockdown…. of course they’ll never learn their lessons though
C_J Difficult to argue with that pal
LT42 Did Thatcher walk into a meeting with some of the worlds most respected economists and blurt out “you’re all out of your minds, I’m going to change how economics works”, then fair play
She actually pretty much did, the mad old bint. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/newsnight/4803858.stm
Soft lockdowns have worked relatively well in Finland. Our economy was also hit far less than the majority of European nations. Widespread population, and a culture of shunning other people probably helped.
LT42 ultimately the fault lay with Erdogan because he wanted reduce interest rates despite high inflation, geopolitical tensions and a big current account deficit.. Albayrak simply tried to implement his wishes. The new CBT governor Agbal knows his stuff on the other hand and is doing exactly the right thing… ultimately though the damage done by Albayrak was probably too great imo
Margaret Thatcher passed away in The Ritz.
That’s how you do it.
Smallman1 Putin?
Smallman1 Poor old Elvis died laying a cable.
Arthur Scargill.
The delay in vaccinating the under 50’s will make it harder for politicians to green light vaccine passports in the short term
alistair I don’t think they could’ve done it until all adults were vaccinated anyway - there’d be a riot.
UNACCEPTABLE Grant.
Us GREAT BRITISH VACCINE PIONEERS should be issued with a passport NOW.
Send the foreign vaccine traitors to Norfolk
Mad_Cyril Pioneers? You mean board elders 😂
alistair Cheeky cnut, I’m ‘only’ 45
