Cases are one thing. We’ve had outbreaks at SNF’s and LTCF’s where everyone has been vaccinated. But minimal issues and no deaths thus far (and these people are fucking old). The vaccines seem to be holding up. We know Delta and Alpha are here. But so far, no real issues. Cases are cases. Whatever. We’re only finding them because we’re looking. Pretty much all of us come in contact with the flu during bad seasons. We don’t care because we don’t get sick.
I don’t like saying this, as it gives ammo to morons, but I personally believe the media response to this is inflammatory and unnecessary.
What is worrisome is vaccination rates. They’ve basically stalled here. Those who want it, have it. Those who don’t, won’t, or can’t be bothered aren’t following up. Pulled a report for HIV+ vaccinated on June 6th. 70%. Pulled again today. 72%. Dunno what you do there.
EDIT as an FYI 7,553 people have tested positive for COVID in California post-vaccination. 19,500,000 have been vaccinated. That’s 0.039%. 62 deaths. But whether those deaths are COVID-specific is questionable. 0.8% mortality. That’s down from State-wide 1.67% and 1.80% Nation-wide.
