I think people are right in saying various Govt’s are trying to get some economic activity going before the end of the summer, then hoping infection hot spots can get ring fenced. Ive always said this disease is going to fragment society based on age and risk averseness. Death rates are lower now due to the age of people now contracting it. The 20-30s age group are going out and getting back to normal, with the over 40s taking a much more cautious approach depending of underlying health and risk averseness.
All age groups mixing together is going to be very risky until a vaccine is found/the virus mutates to a less virulent strain. Im not going out to restaurants, bars, crowed places. Public transport? Fuck that. Im in my 40s and its just not worth it. Im lucky to have my wife and a few mates that I meetup with outside from time to time. I can WFH. I’m pretty tech savvy so use Zoom etc to get by . It’s shite but it’s sensible. FFS 100yrs ago we were going over the tranches and getting mustard gassed…….
I feel sorry for my in laws and Mum the most. They are in their 70s/80s and are still essentially locked down, scared of going to the shops because idiots don’t wear masks and staff are too scared to enforce the rule, plus the Gov’t playing natural selection vs boosting the economy.
