The General Covid19 Thread
Are football matches, restaurants and clubs any different than supermarkets and churches when it comes to people in close proximity, this is an absolute fucking shit show. Woefully managed from the beginning by inept cunts. There will be mass disobedience if they try to impose any rules on mixing of households given the downing st party etc. This will be an interesting period of time…

-si- supermarkets not really because you don’t tend to stand next to the same person for long.. churches yes - but then worshippers were allowed to infect each other throughout the last lockdown right?
In restaurants you can cut capacity to 50% and have some reasonable distancing at least… but at mass gatherings - football, nightclubs, gigs - that’s not possible or going to happen….
But yeah completely mismanaged….AGAIN!

Talking at the same time as the priest?
Lol, they’re a strange breed, the church goer. My missus is a fenian and mass certainly is a sight to behold, standing up and sitting down every 2 mins like a game of musical chairs, shaking hands with people beside you, the incense tin being swung down an isle. Mental bastards the lot of them!
If that’s true then our holiday to Sri Lanka on the 10th is down the fucking toilet.
Thank god I’ve been at the coalface for the last 6 months, I cannot lie, it has been a lot of fun.

In Poland, church was the major driver of deaths (of old people) in the last wave… madness. Apparently the reason the church didn’t go online was because then they’d miss out on collection money
Wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest

So here is London hospitalisations up to the 18th December… it’s less steep already than delta in Dec 2020… and remember Omicron will top earlier. In addition patients in ventilated beds haven’t moved - in South Africa remember ICU bed usage crept up slower than hospitalisations.. early perhaps but encouraging

Jules72 early perhaps but encouraging
Cor, make your mind up - you just had a hissy fit a second ago that the government should have locked down even earlier; and now you’re effectively agreeing with what I pointed out earlier today which is that the data has not shown any major causes for concern and thus any further restrictions are and were unjustified and unnecessary.
Jules72 I’d rather they did it now so I can cancel the tedious family visits over Christmas. Or at least from a few minutes after your flight to the Maldives.
Along_the_Wire got my pcr tomorrow… almost there.. kids and myself been pretty much in isolation - better be worth it!
Hope you get away with no probs, jules. There is some kind of kneejerk reaction coming, to what extent none of us know yet but can’t see us getting to the end of year still in the same situation as we are currently. Hopefully for no more than a few weeks or a month once they see omicron isn’t the death plague it’s being made out to be. I am saying this as a double jabbed, boosted and mask wearing man of the people. I absolutely believe we all need to take precautions and look after the vulnerable but another extended lock down? Kill me now.
I’d eat another lockdown for breakfast, just like the others.
You know why?
Because tough times don’t last, tough people do.
A few weeks or a month is fine, ed. Another 6 months? Nope!
