BLM protest incubation period is done here in the Bay Area. No impact whatsoever. Cases moving upward but the positivity rate is staying well below 5% (8% being the alarm bells - we’re at 4-4.5%) so who cares as long as hospitalizations remain stable. Looking at a post-opening and 4th of July surge but if we get through mid-July, we’re good here. Just need to keep the troglodytes from Arizona and Florida away.

Amazing what a populous who for the most part “gets it” can do. Masks, masks, masks, masks, masks, masks, masks. It seems to make all the difference. And so simple and easy. The easiest bit. Out of all that’s been asked. Pathetic showing by those who refuse.

jonattonyeah totally - was driving around yesterday (London) and i reckon just 50-60% of people were wearing masks on buses… fcking makes me so angry. Im going to start calling out people on buses and tubes/trains - can imagine myself getting very fcking feisty. Ultimately its due to the government having zero credibility imo - the Cummings and Ferguson shitshows blew holes in that. Germans trust their government and do what they’re told …same elsewhere in Europe. What a joke…. i need to stop thinking about this because it is guaranteed to raise my blood pressure.

Without a vaccine, herd immunity is the only way through this for most countries economically. It’s a long-term strategy and fuck knows if it’s going to work. Time will tell

There is no chance of that happening in 2020 unless we experience an absolute catastrophe of infection and deaths. If that happens, I’d be concerned about government and societal stability over anything economic. Testing, isolation for those positive (only for like a week), and masks. That’s all we need to do.

They’re saying that without a vaccine you need roughly 70-80% of the population of a country to be immune in order to achieve effective herd immunity, so without the vaccine and the ambivalence to the rules most are showing, its going to be like pissing into the wind and a dangerous gamble. We’ll see for sure.
