Amps There have been socialist mayors of major cities in my parents lifetimes. Third party options started being systematically destroyed under Carter, and its never stopped. Now, on both the state and federal level, it is nearly impossible to make any kind of dent as a third party candidate.
Once again, the left is faced with the choice of either making common cause/taking over the democratic party, or completely separating itself from the democratic party. I firmly believe that there is no chance of ever finding common ground or taking over the party. However, common cause is clearly the current approach, so what can I do?
As far as the here and now is concerned, last night Joe made it sparkling clear that he rejects the left and their ideals. He thinks tacking right and appealing to the conservative suburb voters will win him the election, and the polls suggest that he is right. Meanwhile, the only appeal he and his surrogates make to people like me is “you are a piece of shit if you don’t vote for Joe, fuck you you pussy!” This leads me to once again ask: why should I bother to vote? A quick reminder that I WILL VOTE FOR JOE, so shut the fuck up and don’t think you can make some stunningly complex moral point that will cull me into submission (not directed at AMPS, but the board as a whole). Unlike last election, this one will dictate 0 supreme court seats, unless Thomas retires, so the stakes are far lower. I can honestly see real value in another 4 years of Trump. I honestly believe the continued decline of the country is inevitable, so why not put your foot on the accelerator and get it over with asap?
