@zackster Where does the America fear of ‘big government’ come from? Is it all a hangover from the red peril of Communism or is it a fear of government helping brown people? Amps One of our two political parties is fully invested in hammering the message home over and over and over and over….. Plus, it doesn’t help that we have an atrocious tax system, and no one likes paying taxes. If ur an average Joe looking at money pouring out of your paycheck, you can quite easily think “derrr I don’t get nothin’ fer this. It’s my goddamned money!” and in most cases you would be right. Don’t need much more than that to say “fuck off big government”. There is also some innate American desire to “be your own man” or what the fuck ever. Comes from the wild west/pioneering spirt or some shit. It sounds great to say, and makes you a hit at the bar. Much easier to argue against government then for it.
