As for COVID, as someone neck deep in it for 8 months now, shutdowns are not and have not been a solution for a while now. Back in May or June, sure. Not anymore. We had a date of 7/31 - get it under control or that’s that; we cannot control it. People won’t listen. Enforcement isn’t possible. We can’t even get people to wear masks, the least invasive request of them all. Joe might not be perfect, is not perfect, but I’d hope he won’t flout public health standards simply for his own ego - and I don’t think he will.
