Amps I really stopped following after Bernard dropped out, but my gut instinct is that he has no chance. He has bungled the last 5 months to an extent that no one thought possible.

However I do think it has to be noted that, much like Hillary, Joe is literally the worst candidate possible, so anything could happen.

zackster your last sentence is the problem. last election cycle at this time, no one thought trump was going to win either. covid could keep more democrats away from the polls, bernie supporters staying home, voter suppression, foreign interference, the rapid news cycle … any number of things could sway this, not the least of which is that biden is an awful candidate and the ‘lesser of evils’ strategy has failed before.

zackster i hope you’re right about the first part, i think it’s still close though. i have little faith in voters and even less faith in the process.

and if he loses, the months between the election and when he’s out of office will be a shit show like no one has ever seen. once he has nothing to lose, we’ll get to see the worst of trump, there’s no doubt about that.

2 or 3 years ago, bill maher stated talking about how he didn’t think trump would willing leave office and i really dismissed that idea until the last 6 months or so. i think it’s a legitimate possibility that he makes a run at it and you know the gop will do nothing to stop it, regardless of how unlawful or unconstitutional it may be.

303abuser Oh I can absolutely see a telenovela drama worthy standoff at the White House, with Trump refusing to leave. The problem he has, that other dictators don’t, is that the military isn’t fully behind him. They do what they have to for now, but when it comes down to it, they’ll leave him out to dry.

Kells77 and hopefully the military won’t stand behind him, but if he’s willing to gas peaceful protesters for a photo op, who know what else he’ll try. it won’t take a full on military effort to cause a shit storm, just a couple of over-zealous or nervous soldiers who make the wrong decision in a split second.
