the good: fauci thinks a successful vaccine is likely, which goes against a lot of the page grabbing reports that are out there saying that we can’t vaccinate for a virus like this. he also said that treatments thru medication are going very well.
the bad: we aren’t where we need to be on testing, and testing is the key to reopening any economy. the cdc guy thinks we could be ready to safely function by september. also, reopening too soon could fuck everything up beyond belief. a second wave now could make things spiral completely out of our control.
the don: this is purely my speculation, but i got the vibe that the senate repubs are done with trump. there was almost no water carrying, and plenty of blame passing. lots of “we did all we could for our great state, yet people still died. what did we get wrong that south korea got right?” which obviously opened the door to fauci saying we failed at testing at the national level. i suspect they think trump is going to loose, and that he could cost the repubs the senate. romney went at him he hardest by asking fauci to debunk a lie don floated about obama hindering the delivery of a vaccine. there was also a bit of praise from the repubs for the job cuomo has done. this will piss don off to no end. as i said back on the old thread, repubs love cuomo bc he is essentially one of their own, so maybe they also have a fantasy of him somehow getting the dem nomination. with the sexual assault shit joe is being hit with, and his inability to function on any level, maybe it’s not that far fetched.
