A few decent, if a little formulaic, tunes early doors.
Played up to fuck on their roots, then fucked off to London - where they’re still probably considered edgy.
A walking self-parody, good fucking riddance.

Wasn’t a fan at all. Thought their song writing was childlike and really over did the arrogance to the point where it was a '‘show’. Liam as a frontman was top drawer though in fairness.
I just thought that other bands of a similar ilk were far more talented and more interesting, such as Stone Roses, Verve Richrad Ashcroft (post-Verve)
I’ll give them Definitely Maybe, the rest, apart from a handful of b-sides, is absolute tripe.
Ed, you forgot your low hanging fruit tab.
Is this the thread where I tell the story about watching them to Top of Pops with Live Forever and then jump on the Northern Line to The Astoria to see them live in the same clothes. One of the most electric, atmospheric gigs I’ve ever been to. I went on my own as I could only get one single ticket.
Ed is blatantly more a Blur man surely?
Along_the_Wire yet you still think What’s the Story is shit. 30m albums later…
To be fair, when did record sales denote quality?
IMO Morning Glory is an absolutely scandalous act of plagiarism, I’m surprised they only had to remove one track.

Lol, thought I’d snuck it in under the radar!
The likes of Champagne Supernova, Morning Glory, Some might say, Don’t look back in anger and Wonderwall may be ubquitous and overplayed but are a million miles away from being shit. 99% of bands would have given their right arm to have written just one of them. Songs that will stand the test of time.
Seen them when Morning Glory just came out in The Point in Dublin and it was unreal proper crest of a wave stuff they filled a void in music and got a lot of people at the right age and stuff as soon as the members all start leaving they became a Beatles tribute band
A lol for Hugo, his first ever one too!
Cap doffed!
Is anyone going to stick their head above the pulpit and try to call champagne supernova shit?
I thought not!
Champagne Supernova was good. Stay Young was another excellent b-side.
They were at their best when not just blatantly ripping off the Beatles or T-Rex and actually bothered to use their imagination/songwriting ability a bit.
