Henry That’s a good price, I’m sure you’ll like it. I hear you with the aesthetics, I have a tiered stand for the ST/DT and it makes the workflow between them really easy as everything is right there.

Not much tempting me in plugin/software land this time around during the Black Friday deals. I did get Snapback by Cableguys (love Shaperbox too). Other than that; I got all bases covered and then some.

Past a certain point it jus becomes collecting.. same as the growing folder of unfinished projects 😂

    …this.

Can’t remember who said it, but I always recall a quote about either collecting VST’s or making music, and am always aware of having more than I use for this reason. Max for Live devices cover so many eventualities now too.

(That said, quite fancy Arturia Acid V!)

Morty-C-137 I’m in the same boat too. I was hoping to see unfiltered audio’s battalion to go on sale, but even that isn’t a big deal.

How do you like snapback? I like the way it sounds, just not sure it makes that much difference once you’ve got a full mix going.

303abuser Snapback is really great! It would tak me a ton of time to achieve the same effect by adding samples in the daw and lining them up. It’s great to try on anything; drums, plucks, guitar etc. Gives some other character to the sound that is not possible at the sound source. Plus the ability to put a reversed sample IN FRONT of say a snare hit gives it that nice extra impact feel.

Snapback is the type of really specific use case plugin which interests me.

        Another one is Rando

        https://monkeyc.audio/pages/rando

Which is the type of thing I can see being a native Ableton tool in the future (if there’s not something like it already).

Morty-C-137 Maybe I’ll have to try it out then, I do appreciate a good workflow plugin.

Morty-C-137 After saying that I don’t need another plugin in my life. It appears that I need another plugin.

Henry 😂 yeah I was the same before and after the demo. Damn those cableguys!

Anyone else having a go at the Quivver remix comp for Label Radar?

erik Thanks. That track isn’t doing much for me and is way off my usual sound, but I kind of like the vocal. Might take a shot at it just to grab the stems, if nothing else.

            You putting something together?

            • erik replied to this.

303abuser i didn’t even bother listening to the original, i just downloaded the parts and did it…

              Yeah mine’s done now

erik I honestly just skimmed it, it’s not like it really matters. We should share them here if a few of us finish something. I’d be interested to see the different takes on the same source material.

303abuser Great idea mate, I’m up for that, let me know if you get round to doing/finishing it

erik Will do. Winter has set in here, so I’ve got more time. I’ve got two albums that need 2-3 tracks each to be finished up, trying to put in a couple of hours a day into music now.

Apparently this got released on streaming platforms today. I’ll share the bandcamp link to the comp when it’s out (next week I think, but not totally sure).

Wrote it in about 3 days in early october, it’s a little different from my usual sound. Like dub techno with the soul of a 90s prog track.

Here’s the bandcamp link for the compilation. It’s part 8 of 9, so lots to unpack.

                        Definitely. It’s a great build.

When it is a genuine build then it rewards a listen (as opposed to random noodling!)

Unbroken1 Thanks for checking it out. Some of the new stuff I’ve been working on is approaching a pace one could call dance music. 😂

So I wasn’t planning on buying anything for Black Friday, but I found a sale on the boss re-202 space echo pedal and couldn’t say no. Just need to do some rewiring today to get it into my setup.

Spent an hour or so messing around with it and the tactile response is so much better than trying the same techniques with vsts.

                          Enjoy!

I’ve dropped a number of hints about how £150 is a steal for a Beringer MS1, when a ‘real’ SH101 is over a grand. Remains to be seen if I’ll be lucky on Xmas day.

                          But nothing else.

Good luck, my wife’s response was why do you need a guitar pedal when you don’t play the guitar? 😂

Here’s my rant of the week. Started rewiring my gear last week to get a proper dub mixing setup going. Works fine while jamming, but for the life of me I can’t get ableton to pull the audio from the mixer. It’s recognized, have the channels set up properly, spent probably 8 hours over a few days watching videos and reading forums trying to solve the problem.

Turns out there’s a setting in the mac security menu to give ableton access to the mic. One click, problem solved. I almost through the entire setup out the fucking window on Friday.

303abuser …that feeling when it finally bursts through the speakers of momentary relief, and then absolute fury at the time wasted 😆

…a couple of recent bits that I haven’t shared on here:

Dan Upgraded to 4 over the holidays. The pattern player is great fun. Do I want a 909 all over every track - of course I do. I can see myself using it as an instrument - recording the performance in isolation and exporting to ableton etc.

Am sure there are better stem splitters out there, but am absolutely going to use it a ton going forward - for production and mixing on the fly. Integrates well, as you’d imagine, with the S4 I have - with controls to filter individual stems / add effects etc.
