  • Electronic Beats TV: Blind Test

Something I’ve been following and enjoyed. Thought I’d share here, in case people weren’t aware of it already. They’ve had some really good DJ’s/producers participate so far, and it’s unearthed a few classics I didn’t know about already. Also introduced me to some different genres I haven’t previously listened to as well.

The story so far: -

Episode 1 - Club Classics

Episode 2 - 90’s Techno

Episode 3 - 80’s EBM/Industrial

Episode 4 - 90’s House

Episode 5 - 90’s DnB & Jungle

Episode 6 - 90’s Techno (Pt2)

Episode 7 - 2000’s Dubstep

Episode 8 - 90’s Techno (Pt3)

Episode 9 - 90’s US House

Episode 10 - 80’s Electro

Been watching these as well. I’ve enjoyed the Techno ones the most.

Dubman same, but also really liked the EBM, DnB and Dubstep ones as they’ve been (mostly) new tracks to me

I think I’d score pretty low myself if I done blind.

Dubman I was expecting myself to do better on the house & techno ones than I actually did!

Smallman1 still waiting for one. If Trisco doesn’t get played, the test is null and void!

Smallman1 We could do our own. Someone could upload some blind/info-less tracks.

It’s weird, I recognise a lot of the tunes by the label but not by name.

          mono-stereo
Same here. I often just pick random records out and Within a few skips of the track I know how it goes but wouldn’t have a clue who made it.

          17 days later

          Episode 11 - 80’s Dance

Not a good era for me. Only got one right (the obvious one of course - no spoiler)!

          a month later

Echo yeah I’d been waiting for that one.

I knew Telekom would go too heavy on the “before my time”, slightly more subtle and acid-y early 90s side of things, which has been a bit more in vogue in Berlin in recent years, but I still would have won that with 8/10.

Can’t believe some of them didn’t know Aurora Borealis.

hugopal Can’t believe some of them didn’t know Aurora Borealis.

Who doesn’t know ‘Sacred Cycles’! 😅

SM001 it seemed a few more of them got that one, but AB had them stumped.

I was good for the obvious - Humate, Jam & Spoon, Pete Lazonby and Universal Nation. The rest I was completely stumped on!

Was expecting some more early Platipus to feature to be honest
